Travel Information
Taipei Overview
Taipei is in the north of Taiwan, a leaf-shaped island still known to many people as "Formosa" (beautiful), the name given by ancient Portuguese explorers. Nowadays, the island's scenic attractions comprise a fraction of Taiwan's overall appeal. Taipei, its capital city, is the center of all this development. As late as the 1970s, the city's eastern side was a bare landscape of wild grass and underused fields. Now it is home to the city's financial and commercial district, as well as the Taipei World Trade Center complex. Getting around Taipei is easy with its efficient public transportation system and abundance of taxis. Aside from modern buildings and cosmopolitan developments, Taipei also offers a peek into the past, with its well-preserved temples (such as the remarkable Longshan Temple) and historical landmarks. The Lin An-Tai House and the Chiang Kai Sheik Memorial Hall are among these notable sites.

Arrival
International flights to Taipei arrive at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, about 50 minutes from downtown Taipei. For further information, please visit the airline website: http://www.cksairport.gov.tw/.
To get to the Taipei World Trade Center from the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, take a taxi to Keelung Road and to Hsin Yi Road, which is near the main entrance of the Exhibition Hall. Taxis are metered, the flat rate is at NT$70. Otherwise, you can take the MRT Pannan Line to the Taipei City Hall Station (about NT$20 from Taipei Main Station), then take a cab to TWTC. Some trade fairs also provide free shuttle bus services from the Exhibition Hall to different hotels.

Transportation to Taipei World Trade Center
The Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) in Hsin Yi Development Zone in eastern Taipei is a cluster of buildings comprised of the Grand Hyatt Hotel, the TWTC Exhibition Hall, the International Trade Building, and the Taipei International Convention Center. To get to the TWTC from hotels in Taipei take a taxi to Keelung Road or Hsin Yi Road, which will take you to the Exhibition Hall's main entrance. You can also take the MRT Pan-nan Line to the Taipei City Hall Station (about NT$20 from Taipei Main Station), then take a bus (Blue 5) to 101 tower (next to TWTC) and walk to Exhibition Hall I.
Getting Around
The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) has five major lines that cover most of inner and outer Taipei. To aid visitors, these lines are color-coded on all MRT maps. The Hsintien Line (marked green) runs from Tamsui, through Taipei Main Station and the Chiang Kai Sheik Memorial Hall all the way to Hsintien City Hall. Chungho Line is coded orange and goes from Peitou to Nanshih Chiao; Pannan Line (blue) runs from Kunyang to Hsinpu. The Mucha Line goes from Chungshan Middle School to the Taipei Zoo (brown), while red marks the Tamshui Line, a short trip from Peitou to Hsin Peitou. The Hsiao Nanmen Line (light green) runs from Hsimen and CKS Memorial Hall. Tickets are priced between NT$20-NT$80 if you stay on the same line. At any train station you can purchase a day ticket for NT$150 that allows unlimited travel on the whole MRT network. The MRT is open everyday from 6 am to 12 midnight. The Taipei City Hall Station on the Pannan Line is the nearest MRT station to Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall, about 10 minutes by walking. For further information, please visit http://www.trtc.com.tw.
Taxis also abound in this city. Cabs charge by the meter; fares start at NT$70 for the first 1.65 kilometers and NT$5 for every additional 350 meters. Waiting time is NT$5 extra for every three minutes.
